Q: Why should I choose Brian M. Douglas and Associates?
A: Brian M. Douglas & Associates covers a wide range of cases including bankruptcy, civil/business litigation, foreclosure, estate planning, and of course, real estate. Brian and his team are very knowledgeable and will make sure you are taken care of before, during, and even after the closing process. They want you to feel comfortable with the decisions being made and will be there to answer any questions you may have. Q: What types of real estate do you work with?
A: We work with both commercial and residential real estate.
Q: What do I do if I can’t make it to the closing?
A: Give us a call if you can’t make it to the closing.
Q: What do I need to bring to closing?
A: You will need to bring a government issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, military ID) and if you are the buyer, the funds.
Q: What forms of payment do you except when bringing funds to closing?
A: You can write a personal check for anything up to the amount of $1,000. Certified funds are acceptable for up to $4,999. Anything $5,000.00 or more requires a wire transfer. ACH transfers are not accepted.
Q: How long does a wire transfer take?
A: Once the office has everything they need they will begin the transfer. It can take as little as an hour and should be should be completed by end of day.
Q: How long does it take to close?
A: It varies. There are many different factors that can affect how long a closing takes. For example, refinances are usually quicker than purchases, and cash closings are also pretty quick. If there are title issues that can slow down a closing. Without issues, a closing usually takes about a week to a week and a half. A couple months? The actual closing should only take about an hour as long as both parties have done their work correctly.
Q: Do I have to close at your office?
A: The Atlanta location is preferred, although we do have 2 other locations. If the attorney has availability traveling may be an option upon request.
Q: Can I add/remove a person from the title of my house?
A: Yes, you can, please give us a call to go over your options.
Q: I have questions on the title of my house.
A: We can run a title search on your house and check to see if there are any liens or other possible issues.
Q: I lost my closing packet, what do I do?
A: Give us a call and we can send you all pertinent information.
